Women job-seekers, take note: Corporate America wants you, and they’re willing now more than ever before to do more to make you want them.

According to “Bringing Girls into Corporate America,” a recent survey by Arthur Andersen, teenage girls weren’t at all excited about working for the nation’s leading firms.

“They have a perception that working in corporate America is almost like a ‘Dilbert’ cartoon,” explains Karen Kurek, managing partner of GROW—Growth and Retention of Women—at Arthur Andersen. “They’re thinking the small-business area and the public-service arena is where they can be more successful.”…

…In fact, she says, since the 1980s, women have been leaving the corporate world to start their own businesses or to work in organizations that offered them flexibility to mange both work and personal commitments such as being closer to home and family…
