Leaders in the high-tech industry have long agreed on the
benefits of diversifying their work force, and companies have
spent millions to do it.
Yet the technology industry still lags behind the rest of
the business world when it comes to employing and promoting
women and minorities. And racial bias complaints against companies
are on the rise

How the question of diversity is resolved could have
critical social and economic consequences. While high-tech
companies are desperate to find qualified candidates for thousands
of unfilled jobs, resorting to importing more workers from
overseas, the unemployment rates of Africa Americans and Latinos
remain far higher than that of whites
